On Tuesday 7 September 2021 at 6 pm, on the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2021, at Villa Mirabello (via Villa Mirabello, Milan) CRAMUM presents the new international exhibition”(The) Nature (is) dead?“, curated by Sabino Maria Frassà. The exhibition hosts the eighth edition of the Cramum Prize, whose winner will be announced during the opening.
The thirty selected works – by famous artists or prize finalists from Belgium, China, Germany, Italy and the United States – show how art and design are increasingly questioning the relationship between “human being-nature-future”. As curator Frassà explains. “Still life appears today as a metaphor for our time. In its obsessive repetition, repetition and declination, still life turns out to be a very contemporary genre, able to sublimate all the complexity of our life and to show where we are and above all where we are going. The still life of the works in the exhibition tells of a decadent and lonely, but not misanthropic, humanity, which cannot but reflect on its own future, increasingly distant from the certainty of God and from a codified dimension of the Sacred; a dimension that is perhaps too distant and complex to grasp, understand and bring back into the work of art”.
Like every year, Cramum showcases internationally renowned artists and out-of-competition artists (the duo Bloom&me (Carolina Trabattoni and Valeria Vaselli), Ludovico Bomben, Letizia Cariello, Gianluca Capozzi, Michele De Lucchi, David LaChapelle, Alberto Emiliano Durante, Ingar Krauss, Fulvio Morella, Paola Pezzi, Elena Salmistraro, Carla Tolomeo) alongside the prize finalists (Elisa Alberti, Maurizio Cariati, Stefano Cescon, Matteo Di Ciommo, Jingge Dong, Clarissa Falco, Stefano Ferrari, Maxim Frank, Miriam Montani, the duo Andrea Sbra Perego & Federica Patera, Federica Zianni).
The exhibition is also sealed by the book “(THE) (NATURE (IS) DEAD? – What selfishness for a possible future” in which the images of the works integrate and interpret the reflections of Nicla Vassallo, Eugenio Borgna, Sabino Frassà and Raffaella Ferrari.
